Yesterday I had an OB appointment. I was thinking it would be the standard heartbeat check with an additional stress test to monitor the baby for 30 minutes since I am now 35 and considered "high risk". However much to our surprise and excitement, I was told I was due for another ultrasound to determine if the baby's growth was on track. Well, again we're looking at another whopper as this baby is coming in at 74% for weight at a current 5 lbs., 6 oz. I have 6 more weeks and it is estimated that the baby can gain a half pound a week during this trimester. Our third little one should be well over 8 lbs. like his/her big brother and sister were.
I am feeling an occasional contraction now and then but just hoping it's my body getting ready for the big day. Extra water and time on the couch seems to calm things down. The weeks are going to fly by and we are getting more excited my the day. However we still have lots to do; i.e. pick a name, set up the bassinet, buy diapers, dust the whole house!
On another note, we've had a wonderful Christmas and New Year season. Matthew's grandma spent three nights with us and enjoyed the Christmas Day snow. Our house was overrun with new toys and their packaging. Matthew, Ruth Ann (his mom), the kids and I enjoyed three days in Charleston the week after Christmas. Yesterday we finished a great week of homeschool as the public school system as been out for inclement weather. Needless to say, we were not feeling the cabin fever that others may have. I do have pictures to post of our activities of the last month but no time now. Matthew bought me a new video/picture software which I pray will allow me to post slideshows to my blog. Stay tuned!
