Our Philip is 6!

I can hardly believe that my first born child is now six years old. How these years have flown by and what AMAZING changes a little boy goes through in six years. I couldn't be more proud of the boy Philip is growing into. A friend of mine said once, "No matter how many kids you have, you'll always be a first-time mom to your oldest." It's true and that's why I'm astounded at the great kid Philip has become. Matthew and I didn't really know what we were doing when we taught him to walk, talk and go potty. Now with homeschooling, I'm enjoying so much watching Philip learn to read, write, work math problems, and soak up world history and science. The best moment of all was praying with him to accept Christ as his savior. After all we've been through these last six years, I look forward to the next six plus years as he grows into a young man.

Philip enjoyed his birthday as we began the day with his basketball game and then a pizza birthday party dinner with Nana, Papa and Grandma.

This past Friday, we continued his birthday celebrations with a field trip to a local science center. Accompanied by our friends who live up the street, we enjoyed a planetarium show about space and then a visit inside the observatory. We saw Jupiter and four of its moons! Pretty cool. Philip picked the planetarium for his birthday outting because we began studying space in science after our Christmas break. I've enjoyed learning things along with Philip. Did you know Alan Shepard hit a golf ball off the moon in 1971? (Yes, that's Philip with his hat down over his face!)

The next best thing to a space field trip is doing your science work with your dog at your side!
