Visiting Grandma Mary

Last Saturday, Matthew, Philip, Braewyn, Ruth Ann and I traveled 45 minutes to spend the day with Matthew's grandma who we call Grandma Mary. She lives in a retirement community but still has an apartment of her own. We got there in time for me to nurse Braewyn before heading over to the dining hall for lunch. They are served cafeteria-style and Braewyn sat in a high chair for the first time while we ate. After lunch, we took a short walk down to a large pond. Philip fed some bread to the fish. We even saw a beaver! We visited in her apartment for an hour more and then drove home. It was a nice time together and had been over a year since I had been down to visit her. She has many doctors appointments here in town so she stops by after those, but it was nice to take the kids down to see her so some of her friends could see how Philip has grown and to meet Braewyn.

Standing on the dock feeding the fish.

Braewyn was a sleepy girl during the walk.

Grandma Mary enjoyed getting to know Braewyn. They had been together at the beach in June, but Braewyn was only 6 weeks old and not very alert.

Matthew stands by as Philip takes a seat on Grandma Mary's back deck.

I'm glad you all are close enough to visit Grandma-- I know she loves it. Hooray for sleeping through the night!!!
